About
| Having family roots in the Netherlands, Marcus Van den Worm aka Dark Vain was born in Switzerland in 1979.
At the time he discovered his passion for electronical music in 1990, the term „Techno“ included more different styles than it does these days. Marcus started to explore his own senses and tried to find the way which was ment to be his. Soon he set in dealing with Detroit and Techno thoroughly. Although Techno was not very popular yet, it inspired Marcus and became his faithful companion until today. Several nights in various clubs couldn’t satisfy his thirst for more. The music should lead him on the one hand and he wanted to control it hisself on the other hand. But this ment to work on the turntables hisself. In 1994 Marcus bought his first Vinyls, a couple of weeks later the first case was full. He started recording reams of mix tapes in order to promote them in the techno scene. His friends have been thrilled by his groovy rhythms. It was a matter of time until the first requests for performances arrived at his house. From that time on he acted as Dark Vain. He performed in the former Utopia Club and Bell Tower in Basel – St. Louis, where he represented his passion for swedish techno. 2000 was the year of his break through. He attended the Parisienne Contest Switzerland and finished second. Thereafter he performed in the Borderline (Echo Basel) together with Bang Goes and brought the crowd to boiling point. On New Years Eve 2002/2003 he played at Rave Olympia (Goliath), in 2003 he acted after Westbam and Luke Slater at the last Motion. In 2004 he treated Zurichs Rohstofflager with a fine breeze of swedish atmosphere, when he performed together with Henrik B. Some months later another gig in the Rohstofflager took place, when Dark Vain turned the tables by the side of Adam Beyer. A dream came true. Adam Beyer was the one who inspired Dark Vains career every day. Due to his hard groove and his tricky funky fingers Dark Vain is a well known and very welcome artist in the Techno and Detroit scene. |
